CO2 Reduction

Some travel associated cost are recorded and managed carefully : air fares, fuel used, hotel, travel, lodging and time spent unproductively. For most companies these costs alone are more than enough reason to deploy 3D TelePresence. But the hidden cost of CO2 emissions is even more devastating. As an example, depending on the car you drive, a daily car trip (25 kilometers each way, 5 days a week) may produce up to 2.0 to 5 metric tons of CO2 annually, whereas a single transcontinental flight adds another 6 tons (and costs around 3,500 Euro).

Aircrafts deliver the CO2 directly into the most sensitive layer the earths’ atmosphere, 7000 to 10000 meters high . By comparison : on an annual basis a US citizen has a carbon footprint of about 23 t of carbon dioxide equivalent, compared with about 11 ton for the average European.
